What are the risks for not treating for external parasites?
- Reduces milk yield by up to 20%
- Increase incidence of summer mastitis
- Reduced calf weight gain
- Downgraded wool quality
- Reduced reproduction in sheep
- It only takes 10-20 head fly to have a negative impact on your farm
- The horn fly will feed off the blood of cattle up to 40 times a day causing irritation of the animal and blood loss
Why use Spotinor?
Farm productivity and animal welfare can be greatly improved by early application of external parasite treatment such as Spotinor. If treatment is left until the fly population is already a problem it may already be too late. Spotinor uses deltamethrin which is a highly effective and fast acting insecticide that will help keep the fly population to a minimum.
The table below shows the untreated fly population compared to fly population after Spotinor has been used to treat cattle and sheep.
